A marquise cut lab grown diamond laid east west across the finger, held by four small round claws that grip the long curved sides of the stone rather than its points. That is the detail that defines this ring. Because nothing covers the two tips, the full length of the marquise is visible from end to end and the outline stays sharp, where a V tip setting would cap each point with metal. The band is slim, plain and polished, tapering slightly as it reaches the setting so that almost nothing competes with the stone. This is the most minimal way to set a marquise. Band details

A slim plain band of even width, polished and unbroken, with no stones set into it and no shaping other than a slight taper into the head. It sits flat against a wedding band.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. On a design this pared back the metal colour is the only decoration. Yellow and rose gold give a warm line under the stone. White gold and sterling silver make the claws disappear so the marquise looks as though it is resting on the finger by itself.

Frequently asked questions

What does east west setting mean?
The long axis of the stone runs across the finger instead of along it. On a marquise this fills the width of the finger and gives a wider, more modern look than the traditional north south orientation.

How is this different from your sculpted wave marquise ring?
That ring has a shaped shank that swells into a wave and cradles the stone with V tips over both points. This one is the opposite approach. A slim straight band, four small claws on the sides only, and the points left completely open.

Are the points safe if they are not covered?
They are set slightly inside the profile of the ring and the claws hold the stone firmly, but an exposed point is always more vulnerable than a capped one. If the ring will be worn through heavy daily work, ask us to add V tips at no extra cost.

Does a marquise look bigger than other shapes?
Yes. A marquise has one of the largest face up areas per carat of any cut, so it looks noticeably larger than a round of the same weight.

Will this sit flush with a wedding band?
Yes. The straight slim shank sits flat against a plain band with no gap.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
