Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond? Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it is grown in a laboratory rather than extracted from the earth. It is graded by the same laboratories using the same criteria.

What color and clarity is the diamond in this ring? The marquise cut center stone is E color and VVS2 clarity. E is in the colorless range, and VVS2 means inclusions are very difficult to see even under ten times magnification, so the stone is completely eye clean.

What is an east west setting? It means the long axis of the stone runs across the finger rather than down it. On a marquise the effect is dramatic, because the cut is the most elongated of all the common shapes, so the ring spans noticeably wider than a traditional setting.

Does an east west marquise still slim the finger? No, and that is the honest trade off. A north south marquise lengthens the finger. Turned east west it emphasises width instead. People choose this orientation for the modern look, not for the flattering effect.
