Why does an emerald cut look different from other diamonds
It is a step cut, meaning its facets are long parallel planes rather than small triangles. Instead of many small sparks it gives broad flashes of light, an effect the trade calls the hall of mirrors. It also shows clarity more openly, which is why we use VVS2 as standard.

What does east west setting mean
The long axis of the stone runs across the finger instead of up and down it. On an emerald cut it emphasises the width of the step facets and gives a distinctly modern look.

Do the clusters make the ring look bigger
Yes. They extend the head in both directions, so the design covers noticeably more of the finger than the centre stone alone.
