A cushion cut lab grown diamond held by six claws rather than the usual four, on a slim band whose accents alternate between marquise cuts and small round brilliants. The extra pair of claws sits at the midpoint of each long side.

The claw count is a response to the shape of the stone. On a princess or an emerald cut the corner is a definite angle, and a claw folded over it has two surfaces pulling against each other, so four are plenty. A cushion has no such corner. Its outline is a continuous soft curve with only a gentle swelling where a corner would be, which means a claw placed there has far less to hold onto and the stone can creep round in its seat over years of small knocks. Adding a claw at the midpoint of each side stops that rotation, because the six points of contact are spread evenly around a circle rather than clustered at four vague corners. There is a visual dividend as well: six claws divide the outline of the stone into six shorter arcs instead of four longer ones, and shorter arcs read as rounder, which is exactly what a cushion is trying to be.

Band details

The shank is slim with each accent in its own seat, and the lower half is left plain. Keeping the band narrow against a six claw head is deliberate: the head already carries more metal than a four claw setting, so the band gives some back.

Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.

Why six claws on a cushion
A cushion has soft corners that give a claw little to grip, so the stone can rotate slowly in its seat. Six evenly spread points of contact prevent that and make the outline read rounder.

Do more claws cover more of the stone
Slightly, but each claw is made narrower to compensate, so the total metal on the crown is close to that of a four claw setting.

What is a cushion cut
A square or rectangular outline with rounded corners and a brilliant faceting pattern. It is the modern descendant of the old mine cut used before electric lighting.

Can this ring be resized
Yes. The lower half of the shank is plain, so resizing is done in clean metal.
