Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond? Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it is grown in a laboratory rather than extracted from the earth. It is graded by the same laboratories using the same criteria.

What color and clarity are the diamonds in this ring? The Asscher cut centre stone and both round accents are E color and VVS2 clarity. On an Asscher this matters more than on most shapes, for the reason in the next answer.

What is an Asscher cut? An Asscher is a square step cut with trimmed corners, so its outline is close to an octagon. Its facets run in parallel steps toward a small table, which produces a distinctive effect often described as looking down a hall of mirrors. Because those facets are long and open, colour and inclusions show readily, which is why E and VVS2 suit it.

Is a bezel setting more secure than prongs? Yes. A bezel wraps metal fully around the girdle of the stone rather than gripping it at points. Nothing can snag, no prong tip can wear thin or bend, and the vulnerable corners of a square stone are completely covered. It is the most protective of the common settings.

Does a bezel make the stone look smaller? Slightly, since the rim covers the outer edge. What you get in return is protection and a cleaner silhouette. If you want maximum apparent size, tell us and we can set the same design with a partial bezel instead.

Does this ring come with certification? Yes. Every center stone ships with an IGI certificate at no additional charge. IGI is one of the largest independent gemological laboratories grading lab grown diamonds.
