Asscher Cut Moissanite Full Eternity Pave Ring with Hidden Halo in Silver, 10K, 14K and 18K Gold

An asscher cut moissanite in four claws on a fine band set with micropave around its entire circumference, with a hidden halo of small stones facing outward beneath the centre. There is no plain metal anywhere on the shank.

A full eternity of pave on a fine band

Most pave solitaires stop their stones partway down each shoulder, because the underside of a band takes the most wear and because stopping makes resizing possible. This one does not stop. The pave runs the complete circle.

What you gain is that the ring never goes dark. Turn your hand, hold a glass, rest your palm on a table, and there are still stones facing outward. A half coverage band looks plain from underneath; this one does not have an underneath.

What you give up is stated plainly in the questions below: this ring is very difficult to resize. That is not a flaw in the making, it is the direct consequence of putting stones all the way round, and it is the single most important thing to understand before ordering.

We make four slim pave banded asscher rings and the differences are easy to state plainly.

Fine Pave Hidden Halo has scalloped pave over about half of each shoulder, plain edges, a hidden halo, and a plain lower band. The lightest, and the easiest to resize.

Milgrain Pave also covers about half, but its pave is bordered with beading and a single round accent flanks the centre on each side. No hidden halo. The vintage minded one, and the least expensive of the four.

Full Eternity Pave runs pave the whole way round the band and adds a hidden halo. The most sparkle and the most stones, but it can barely be resized.

The hidden halo

Beneath the centre, around the basket, sits a ring of small stones facing outward rather than upward. You do not see them looking down at the ring. They appear in profile, and they fill the space under a stone that sits fairly high, which would otherwise read as a dark gap.

On this ring the hidden halo completes the idea: with pave around the band and stones under the stone, there is no angle from which the ring shows bare metal.

The stone

An asscher is a square step cut with cropped corners, so its outline is an octagon that reads as a square. The facets are cut in concentric squares that draw the eye down into the stone, an effect jewellers call the hall of mirrors. It flashes in broad blocks rather than sparkling, so the small brilliants around it supply movement the centre deliberately lacks.

Every centre stone is Colorless in body colour and VVS in clarity, and every accent is Colorless and VVS too.

Moissanite has a higher refractive index than diamond, which in a step cut shows as depth rather than fire, and at 9.25 on the Mohs scale it stands up to daily wear.

Choose the centre from 2 carat up to 5 carat. The fine band flatters a larger stone and this design carries 4 and 5 carat centres very well.

Metals

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Shown in white gold, which suits full coverage pave because metal and stones read as one continuous circle of light with no colour break. Yellow gold draws the band as a warm line beneath the stones, which is handsome but slightly interrupts the continuity that this design is built on. Rose gold is soft and pretty. Silver is the most affordable route into this many set stones. 10K is the hardest and holds fine beading longest, which matters when the beading goes all the way round. 14K is the everyday balance. 18K is the richest but softest, and on a fine fully set band we would lean toward 14K or 10K. White gold is rhodium plated and needs replating every one to two years.

Made to order

Nothing is taken off a shelf. We draw the fine band, cut a seat for every stone around the full circumference, set and bead each one, set the hidden halo, then set the centre and polish for your metal, centre size and finger size after your order arrives. There are a great many stones here and each is beaded individually. That is how we offer twenty one ring sizes and forty combinations.

Care

Warm water, a drop of mild washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush, worked right around the band rather than only across the top. Pay particular attention beneath the centre, since the hidden halo sits where soap collects. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Take it off for the gym, gardening and swimming pools, and keep it away from bleach.

We would rather point you to a different ring of ours than sell you the wrong one. If none of these is quite right, tell us what you are after and we will say so plainly.

Questions we are asked

Can it be resized? Barely, and we want to be direct about it. A band set all the way round cannot be cut and rejoined without disturbing the setting. We would rather spend time getting your size right before we make it than disappoint you afterwards. If you expect your finger size to change, our half coverage designs are the sensible choice and we would genuinely rather sell you one of those.

Will a wedding band sit flush? Yes, reasonably. The band is fine and straight sided. Stones on the underside do not affect how a second ring sits beside it.

Do stones on the underside get damaged? They wear more than stones on top, which is simply true of any full eternity band. Moissanite at 9.25 on the Mohs scale copes well, and the stones are set low. It is worth knowing rather than worrying about.

Will inclusions show in a step cut? Not at VVS. That grade is what makes a step cut worth doing.
