Asscher Cut Lab Grown Diamond Art Deco Halo Ring with Kite Side Stones and Milgrain

An Asscher cut lab grown diamond inside an octagonal halo of round diamonds, flanked by kite shaped side stones, with milgrain beading throughout and pave running down the shoulders. This is one of the most authentically Art Deco pieces we make. Nothing here is a curve pretending to be a period detail. The Asscher itself was invented in 1902 and became the signature stone of the era. The halo follows the stone's octagonal outline rather than rounding it off, so the whole head is an eight sided shape. Kite cut diamonds sit at each side, which is the geometric alternative to the usual round or pear side stone. Milgrain beading edges the halo, the kites, the shoulders and the gallery, and the shoulders themselves are pave set with a fine bright cut edge. In rose gold, as photographed, the effect is warmer and softer than the platinum originals without losing any of the geometry. Free IGI certificate for the centre stone. Made to order in Surat in ten metals and four carat weights.

Accent stones and band

An octagonal halo of round brilliant diamonds follows the cut corners of the Asscher. A kite shaped diamond sits at each side of the halo, pointing outward toward the shoulders. Both shoulders are pave set with round diamonds and finished with milgrain along each edge. The cathedral gallery beneath the head carries further pave, and a round diamond sits at the base of each shoulder where it meets the shank.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Rose gold, as photographed, gives a warm antique cast that suits the milgrain. White gold and sterling silver read closest to the platinum used in genuine period pieces and give the sharpest geometry. Yellow gold gives the most traditional heirloom look.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. Because pave and milgrain run down both shoulders, please order your correct size where possible. Resizing is possible but the beading has to be rebuilt at the join. Ask us for a free size guide if you are unsure.

Custom orders

We can remove the kite side stones, plain the shoulders, change the centre to emerald cut or cushion, or set the centre with moissanite or a coloured gemstone such as sapphire, which is the most period correct alternative. For any other customization request please contact us at https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will quote it before you order.

Frequently asked questions

What is an Asscher cut?
A square step cut with deeply cut corners, giving an octagonal outline and a series of concentric squares inside the table often described as a hall of mirrors. It was created by the Asscher brothers in 1902 and is the defining diamond shape of the Art Deco period.

Does clarity matter more in an Asscher?
Yes. Like an emerald cut, the large open table acts as a window into the stone, so inclusions are far easier to see than in a brilliant cut. That is why we set VVS2 rather than a lower grade here.

What is a kite cut diamond?
A four sided diamond shaped like a kite, with two short edges and two long ones. It is the geometric side stone of choice in Deco design because it continues the angular lines of the centre rather than softening them.

What is milgrain?
A row of very small metal beads worked along an edge with a knurling tool. It appears on almost every genuine Edwardian and Art Deco piece and it is what gives this ring its antique softness at the outlines.

Does the halo make the Asscher look bigger?
Yes, considerably. The octagonal halo continues the outline of the centre stone rather than sitting around it as a separate ring, so the head reads as one much larger step cut diamond from a short distance.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut and carat weight.

Is the pave secure for daily wear?
Each stone sits in its own raised bead of metal and every setting is checked before shipping. We also offer a lifetime prong and pave check, so you can send the ring back any time for tightening.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond is chemically and optically the same as a mined one, graded on the same scales by the same laboratories, at a fraction of the price. That matters more than usual for an Asscher, because the open step cut table demands a high clarity grade, and a VVS2 E colour Asscher at 4 or 5 carat would be out of reach in mined material. It is grown rather than excavated, so there is no mining involved and the origin is never in question.
