The point is protected by a V claw, a single piece of metal folded around the tip so nothing bears on the corner itself. The rounded end takes ordinary claws. The concealed halo does something specific for this shape. Because the halo follows the pear outline rather than a circle, it repeats the silhouette a second time in miniature just below the girdle, which visually thickens the narrow half of the stone where a pear can look thin from the side. Looking straight down the halo is invisible under the diamond, so the outline stays clean and the stone still reads as a single pear rather than a cluster.
