Most solitaires sit on a straight shank, and when a straight wedding band is pushed up against one the raised head stops it a millimetre or two short. The fix here is a shallow scoop cut into the underside of each shoulder, so the wedding ring slides into that recess and finishes tight against the engagement ring on both sides. From above nothing shows at all, which is the point. It is a piece of engineering, not decoration. Everything else on this ring is deliberately absent. The band is round in section and holds a constant width, the four claws are plain tapered metal folded over the girdle, and the gallery beneath is an open trellis with no piercing, no milgrain and no hidden stones.
