Rotated forty five degrees it becomes a diamond shape rather than a box, which lengthens the hand and gives the wrap something to grip: the two corners now sit at the top and bottom of the setting, exactly where the band arrives.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eThe wrap\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eRather than a head soldered to a shank, the band itself rises, folds over the two exposed corners and continues round. This setting covers two of them completely in metal. It is crystallised carbon with the same cubic structure, the same 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index of 2.42 and the same dispersion as a mined stone. Ours are grown by chemical vapour deposition and high pressure high temperature methods, then cut and polished by hand. This is not moissanite, not cubic zirconia and not a simulant. Yellow gold is photographed here, and a heavy warm fold against a colourless step cut is the contrast this design is built on.
